Curious Maggie

Maggie is so aware of everything around her now. She's so curious about new people and things. This morning she rolled from her tummy to her back! Of course we didn't get it on camera and couldn't get her to do it again... but stay tuned- soon there will be video of her rolling!

Watch Maggie's New Trick!

Maggie learned a new trick today! At 5am (after sleeping for 8 hours!) she learned that she could hold her head up. She looked so proud and kept looking between me and Brady for approval. Since it was 5am we weren't nearly as excited as we were when she repeated her trick this evening!

Too Excited to Nap

Instead of falling asleep for a nap, Maggie was too busy laughing and smiling at her mobile. She gets easily distracted while she is eating or getting ready to nap by toys. Maggie loves to play and continues to be such a happy girl!

Look at those Dimples!

Turkey Day Pictures

Here are some pictures from Thanksgiving day. Maggie loves holding her head up now! She likes the independance of sitting up in her chair.
Here's Maggie hanging out with her Uncle Aaron.

The turducken and it's creators! (Chad, Tim and Brady)

Maggie was introduced to Ernie (the pug) on Thanksgiving. She didn't have much interest in him- but he sure liked her.

Christmas Lights

On Friday night, the city of Denver had a celebration to light up the courthouse. It was a fun way to start off the Christmas season- with Christmas carols, lights and snow! Just before the lights were turned on it started to snow. We thought Maggie would love to see the Christmas lights because she is really into looking at regular lights right now... of course, she slept through the whole thing. :)

Our Little Turkey

Happy Thanksgiving! After such an eventful year, we feel like we have a lot to be thankful for! We are so excited to show Maggie her first Turduken today! :)

Trying to Suck her Thumb

Maggie keeps trying to suck her thumb but ends up sucking the back of her hand. It doesn't seem to bother her too much though- she keeps smiling through it. :)

Tarlini Visit

Grandma Jodi, Grandpa Ron and Aunt Emily came out to visit Maggie again this weekend. We had an early Thanksgiving dinner and spent time playing with Maggie. She is holding her head up more and more each day. Maggie enjoys tummy time and her new seat- which are helping her strengthen her neck muscles. Maggie spends a couple of hours awake and playing in the mornings now and again in the evening. She's getting big too fast!

Ridin' In the Car

Maggie really enjoys riding in the car (listening to Raffi).

NKOTB

Maggie wasn't able to go to the concert with Mom, but she still showed her love for the New Kids!

Hanging out with Mom

Maggie and I spent a lot more time playing during the day- now that she is up for longer periods of time.

Playtime with Dad

Maggie is starting to mimick the faces that she sees us make. Her favorite is sticking out her tounge.

Bath Time

Maggie isn't a big fan of getting into her bath- but once she's in, she seems to enjoy it. Her favorite part is being wrapped up in her towel afterwards.

Girls Weekend (plus Brady)

This weekend Maggie's Grandma Grant and Aunt Casey came out to see her. The weekend flew by- but it was great to get to spend time with them! Maggie was able to show them what her days (and nights) look like and her beautiful smile in person. After this weekend, we can't wait to go back to Illinois for Christmas!

Election Day

Even though she's too young to vote- Maggie had an outfit for the election.

Twins!

Maggie's Auntie Em came out to visit her for Halloween. Emily dressed up with Maggie ... in matching costumes. Maggie stayed in and didn't make it out for trick or treating... maybe next year!

Maggie's New Trick

Maggie wants so badly to be able to control her head on her own... she's started being able to turn it when she is on her tummy.

Boo at the Zoo!

Today we went to the Denver Zoo for Boo at the Zoo. Maggie was the cutest ladybug there! We were able to enjoy a beautiful day outside.

Great Grandma!

Maggie already has two grandmas who are both great... but she's also lucky enough to have a great-grandma too! Maggie's middle name comes from her great-grandma's family. She is the seventh generation (at least, there may be more) of first born daughters with the middle name Elizabeth. Maggie loves her great-grandma already- she quickly fell asleep being held by her.

Pumpkin Patch

Maggie went to a pumpkin patch this weekend. She slept through the whole thing- but she had a great outfit for the trip :)

On a side note, Brady and I couldn't get over the background... even though we've both lived in Colorado for a few years, it's still amazing to see mountains behind the pumpkins!

Go BU!

For all of our Bradley friends... Maggie is already a Bradley fan! Here she is in her BU onesie.

Sarah's Belly- Final Picture

To complete the series of pictures that we took of Maggie growing in my belly each month, we decided to take one last picture. I can't believe that she fit inside of me!

3 Weeks!

Here are a few pictures of Maggie on her 3 week birthday! She finally has a belly button! :)

Trying to wake Maggie up

Maggie LOVES to sleep! But when it's time to wake up to eat, it's always a process. She loves to stretch and yawn for a few minutes before she wakes up. It's so funny. She's going to be a girl who loves the snooze button on her alarm clock someday.

New Update

Sorry- it's been a few days since we've updated the blog.

Maggie had a very social weekend. She had her first playdate with Seth Lane on Thursday. Both Maggie and Seth slept most of the time! On Friday, Maggie had several visitors stop by to see her and then went to her first happy hour at a friend's house. Saturday, Maggie went to a housewarming party and got to meet more of Mom and Dad's friends. After all of that excitement she spent most of the day on Sunday sleeping.

Brady and I feel like we are starting to figure out different things that she likes. Even though she doesn't like to be swaddled in a blanket, she likes to be held close while she tries to fall asleep. Maggie can be put in her bassinet at bedtime and is able to fall asleep on her own (although, we enjoy rocking her to sleep- so this doesn't happen too often). She still wakes up really peacefully- usually we hear some coos and grunts from the bassinet letting us know that she's awake.

Maggie's First Doctors Appointment

Maggie had her two week appointment today. She now weighs 7 lbs 12 oz and is 20.5 inches long. The doctor said that everything looks great!

Maggie's New Friend

Maggie is becoming more aware of her surroundings (those within 18 inches of her). She spent some time this morning watching her lion. She would be silent while he played music and start to make some noise when he stopped.

Maggie has her two week doctors appointment today! It's crazy that she's already 2 weeks old!

Maggie's First Shopping Trip

Around 12, Mom and Grandma Jodi started to get Maggie ready to go out for the afternoon. The three of us finally left the house at 1:20- with a clean diaper, full tummy, dry clothes and WAY too much stuff in the diaper bag.

We ate lunch outside- which Maggie slept through.

Then ran some errands at Target- again, Maggie slept through most of it.

It took a lot longer to run a few "quick" errands than normal, but Maggie did a great job and didn't seem to mind being out.

Maggie's Busy Days

Here's a picture of how Maggie continues to spend most of her time during the day. When she is awake she's staying awake for longer periods of time now. However, she still sleeps for about 3 hour stretches at a time.
Brady went back to work part-time yesterday, so we are now trying to adjust to him having a "normal" schedule but her still developing her sleeping schedule. We enjoy taking naps lately!
We are about to take Maggie to Target for the very first time! I never thought that I would have to spend so much time preparing to go to the store :)

Saturday, October 4, 2008

Here's a video of Maggie while she's awake. She's been spending a lot more time awake during the day over the last few days. She spends time cooing and watching mom and dad. We were looking through pictures of Maggie at the hospital and already she's starting to look different!

A day of firsts

Maggie had her first bath today. She was wide awake and didn't seem to mind getting cleaned. Her hair curled a little when it was wet... mom is hopeful that it will be curly as she gets more of it.

Maggie watched her first Cubs playoff game tonight with her dad. She got to wear one of her many Cubs outfits (even though it's still a little big on her right now). Even though she slept through most of the game, we can tell she's already a Cubs fan! Go Cubs Go!

Maggie's First Outing

Today after starting to feel a little stir crazy in the house, we decided to take Maggie for a walk in City Park. It was a beautiful day and she seemed to enjoy it.

Day 5

It's been so great to be home. It's definitely been an adjustment to not have nurses helping out- but we've been so lucky to have our families here to help. Maggie's first night home she cried for a while, however about half way through the night she fell asleep and slept for 3 hours! (Very quickly 3 hours already seems like a lot of sleep to us). Last night (her second night home) she slept between 3 and 4 hours between each feeding. After she'd eat, she'd smile and coo for a little while then be ready for bed again. It was wonderful! We are continuing to fall more in love with her and can't wait to introduce her to everyone. We are anxiously awaiting coming to Illinois for Christmas!

There was a breif period when the nurses thought that Maggie might have jaundice, so we need to do some sunbathing with her to help out. Grandma Grant got her some sunglasses so she was ready for the sun!

Goin' Home

Yay! Our family is home! After all kinds of doctor visits and poking at Maggie, we were allowed to bring our baby home. Our families decorated the house for her homecoming. Once we walked in the door, we didn't really know what to do with ourselves for a while- but it's great to be in a more comfortable environment. Maggie must like it already because she's already pooped twice (in less than 2 hours).

We had a wonderful surprise vistor today...Brady's sister Casey was able to make the trip out here too! We heard a knock at the door and opened it to find Casey in the hallway! It was great and Maggie was excited to meet her other aunt!

One of the things that I find most amusing about Maggie is how difficult she is to wake up. She tends to fall asleep during her feedings and will just smile at me when I'm trying to wake her up to continue. This is a trait that she definately inherited from her dad :) Here's a picture

of them taking a nap- thankfully I didn't have to try to figure out how to wake the two of them up!

Baby Girl's asleepin'

Maggie chillin', chillin'

Visitors

Maggie had lots of visitors last night. All four of her grandparents are now in town and her aunt Emily. She had some of mom and dad's friends stop by too. She did a great job of entertaining and staying awake (better than her mom does sometimes) while her visitors were here. Maggie also showed us a little trick that she probably did while she was still in the uterus... she started sucking her thumb!

She kept us up a little more last night, but was easily soothed back to sleep. Today, mom is feeling much better and even got to take a shower (to wash out my forming dreadlocks). All three of us are doing great and enjoying getting to spend so much time together! Thanks for all of your thoughts and well wishes! We will continue to post pictures and updates! :)
